R2 remote BIG dissappointment

FINALLY received R2 remote after pre-ordering in November. Initially paired up OK and was able to get to all the menus and set tire size and disable dead man switch. Tested in house and seemed to work OK. Took it for it’s first spin and after .1 mile tried to switch from ECO to fast (at a stop) and nothing. Wouldn’t move at all. Tried turning off and re-pairing and that worked OK but now throttle is inop. Tried re-hooking up dead man switch, re-paired and still no response. Would’t change gears and would’t move. CARRIED it back to house, paired old remote and went for an enjoyable ride. Bottom line- DO NOT RECOMMEND, This was a poorly designed and tested product IMHO. Will fool around with it a little, but will probably try to send it back for refund. Oh yea, instructions say you can get battery percentage back instead of skateboard silhouette in the menu but I could’t find it. When was working that first .1 mile in ECO it felt like it was in SAFE mode. Different acceleration logarithm I guess. Wouldn’t waste money on it. Guess new boards come with it stock. Good luck with that.

I will buy it from you. Same as a refund if you would ship it to me?

OK. Where are you located? I only paid $79 for it on pre order.

How do you do a pm?? Sorry just a 73 year old fart down here. Used to spend lot of time in Oregon though. Went to Oregon State and wife is from Portland. You can email me if you want at “Pacop65 [at] gmail.com”. Hope this doesn’t get me on any more spam lists

Oh snaps, I just received mine today also but haven’t had the chance to test it out (rain and wet outside).
Hmmm, should I even bother??? I’ve read stories on the R2 and mostly negative. Was gonna cancel my order but hoping everything will be sorted out before hand.
I’m kinda torn but I don’t really mind my current remote. And it has the percentage for battery which the R2 doesnt... sucks

I had the same problems you described PacoP. Look up Evolve'
sYouTube vid on how reset the trigger values. That's what I did an now everything works as it should. Good luck.

Tried all those things including switching from V2 to V1 and now won’t even pair. Before switching to V1 had error message in batt screen that said “ mot 1&3 err”. Didn’t get that warning in V1 but it still wouldn’t pair and/or run. At least I found out I’ve got 350 batt cycles so far on my board

That’s the spirit... something good came out of it knowing your batt cycles... hahao_O

I have the original LCD and R2 now .The original pairs faster .But no issues yet !! I like the new remote better as far as it in your hands but if they didn't make it i wouldn't be upset

I have an R2 and haven't had any issues with it. I even ride with my phone/bluetooth headphones on, and the phone in the pocket right next to my remote. I noticed the other day that my headphones were having interference issues while the remote had no problem at all.

I saw someone else posted that they have a firmware update for the R2, maybe it didn't get applied to yours?

Don’t know. I’ve tried messing with it off and on for a week now in every mode and setting I can think of. It’s still just a paper weight for me. Funny how it worked initially for that short ride and then just quit doing anything. Oh well, old reliable remote is working just fine. Was considering buying new board but if they come stock with the R2 remote I think I’ll wait a bit.
