I really believe the guys that had a bad crash due to foot slipping could have been avoided with Bindings. But hey what do I know?

    Pros and cons, yes?

I would never use bindings on my board. I want to have the freedom to jump off at any point in time. If you are on a closed track and wear protective gear I can imagine you will have some fun doing crazy stuff while being "glued" to your board.

I don't know I have a Carbon Gen 2 AT set up and it's way to heavy to use bindings to jump or lift the board and I have not had a problem with slipping. But I have seen a lot of guys extending the grip tape on the Carbon GT models so maybe it is an issue. How do you like riding with them?

some people run just the rear binding which then is way safer for riding, I agree if your locked it would be a bit dangerous. I would think you could learn them a bit, just like foot straps when they appeared on mountain bikes. In some sense these may help you avoid crashes.

Been raining here so haven't tried yet. I'm not gonna have them fasten down tight, just enough so my feet don't slide and so I can jump off board ;-)

I just took my Freebord bindings off my board and it's totally better. I kept getting thrown before on take-offs but now I'm able to hold on and rocket on the trails. Haven't done any jumps yet but there is always tomorrow. Without a heel strap I've been able to jump off so far no problem. I love the fact that I can really loosen up the trucks to be able to crank out some sweet craves without the feeling of slipping out.

They've been popular on regular mountain boards for a long time, so I imagine with a bit of practice you could get comfortable doing some pretty aggressive AT dirt track riding with them on.

Let us know when you manage to take if off any sweet jumps Rockinjohn

If you're into just cruising around parking lots or going straight to the market then flip flops would be appropriate but if you want to carve some serious s-turns then I highly recommend bindings. You can really lean back and push the limits of this thing while coming off edge to edge. You don't snowboard without them...why should you hold your board back from its true potential. I only have a Bamboo GT since Carbon was always sold out but I feel that these puppies were meant to carve. I wasn't sure we could mount MBS bindings on them due to width of the battery but I'm glad to see someone go for it. With the Freebord bindings you just wedge your shoes into the clips or hooks which probably gives you a false sense of security and carve away. I've had to eject a couple of times when catching an edge on a rocky trail with no problem so far but with real bindings that get ratcheted down it''s balls to the wall.

Is it possible to mount them to the Bamboo?

Them being the Freebord or the MBS? I have the Bamboo GT and the Freebord mounts were easy to drill the front but the back with a duck stance the holes were directly under the power cords. Luckily they are flexible so you can bend them back enough to drill from the bottom of the board up.

    Was curious about both really.

airmikeyy did you drill straight through the carbon deck then on yours?

If so, did it look like it would cause any splitting or integrity issues doing that?

I too was concerned but after talking to a mechanic about how strong carbon fiber is I went ahead and drilled the holes. NO ISSUES AT ALL!!!!!!!

I wouldn't be concerned about splitting so long as you pre-drill the holes . I used to make carbon fiber race bikes for a living.

He looks like a neon hornet!

I saw a pedestrian getting angry at a pelican crossing the other day. When a pedestrian stands at the edge of a pelican crossing in the UK, the flow of traffic must stop and allow them to cross.

Unusually all 3 cars in front of me went straight through it, completely ignoring the woman. I saw her getting really annoyed, putting her hands up in the air, shaking her head and tutting quite animatedly.

I felt like rolling down my window and explaining to her that wearing all black at night makes it very difficult for drivers to see her and to get over herself. But of course, being a polite brit, not wanting to engage in any kind of confrontation I came to a stop and waved her over the crossing. She continued to shake her head angrily to show her gratitude as she stomped across the street .

I guess my point is, if you want to be seen by cars, wear clothing that makes you visible, like airmikee!
