hey this is my first post. I got a GT coming in a few days and I would like to ride from the Palms Casino to Henderson areas. Lets assume I stay on the sidewalks the whole way, will the cops bother me? This is just a general inquire about how much the cops are going to hassle me. Any thoughts guys?

    Welcome to the site Ted!

I just did a quick search on the members search and it looks like you're the first member from Las Vegas.

Although according to the member map @Epic is from nearby Henderson.

Maybe someone form California or Nevada will know.

    SoCal Legend?

Yes I am from Henderson / Vegas, I've been looking for people to ride with out here! I don't ride it much, but I did get sh*t from cops on The Strip tho. They claimed it was Illegal to ride around the strip. Never had a problem around Henderson. teddy702 DM your number & we can link up

I saw those videos. Looks like you had covered a lot of las Vegas territory. you say the cops didn't bother you, but did any cop actually see you?

We passed a few and they didn't bat an eyelid. I guess depends how fast your going etc. Long as safe and not people carving think you be ok. ;)

I'm getting my deck in a couple of days. I wondering if there is a local esk8 group here in Vegas. Is there interest in starting a small group for a monthly group ride??? Also, the trouble with cops, was that when you were on bike lanes?

where are you thinking about riding radnez? Is there a specific spot you wanted to go or just a random street/sidewalk cruise?

I guess I'm getting' a bit big for my britches... I get my board this week (means: I never used an eSkateboard before), but I'm a quick study. Anyways, I was trolling for any group ride street, dirt whatevers. It appears to make the experience so much more fun and ironically it seems safer too. I saw a vid that was done at O' darkhundred on the strip. They looked unbothered. That's ounded like a great idea, except for the waking up at 3AM part. Not many Folks on the strip so it was a pretty smooth ride. Does Vegas still do Critical Mass? That would be good too. Thanks for the reply BTW.

Rode my Carbon GT A/T for the first time today. I got it quick from CaliKites in SF. I think I have the hang of it, except for the occasional bail from using the brakes... Also, I'm sure I looked like a total dumb@$$ with all my safety gear, but I am 50 this year and I need to be able to earn money for expensive toys like the Carbon GT--can't get hurt and miss work. I found that using the board for 3 hours straight can be pretty tiring. I can't believe my calves hurt that much, and I'm no stranger to longboards. Finally I also tried FAST mode and got a bit scared, so no, the Dudes weren't lying when they said that GT can get away from you in a hurry. Finally, a beginner needs to be told that those wrist guards prevent you from holding the remote properly. Bottomline: I need more time before I try a group ride. Are the group rides in Vegas posted anywhere for when I am good enough not to ruin the event?

I wouldn't worry about that at all mate. The only time people may think that is if you're lying in the street injured waiting for an ambulance because you weren't padded up.

I found my legs ached a lot too when I first got my board. Started using loads of muscles that hadn't been activated in a while, they'll adapt.

I use wrist guards on all of my rides and have since the start, perhaps it just takes a bit of getting used to or maybe you can find some that don't protrude too much? It's certainly not the perfect fit getting into position, but I find once I've got the remote in a decent grip the guard doesn't interfere at all and they're well worth it for when I inevitably fall.

Keep an eye on the events section for group rides - or make an event yourself when you've got a few more rides under your belt. If you do, I'll ping out some invites to other members nearby :punch:

Thanks Alex, that is awesome insight Bro. You're right about the safety stuff... Please keep me in mind when you guys go out en force. I got to ride on dirt today and found that it is not as smooth as it looks on peoples videos. I'll try grass later, but gravel is definitely tricky... I found/stumbled upon some soft segments and sank my A/T wheels in and had to bail. Those are things that new riders should be told. Anything I need to know about grass??? Thoughts and advice kindly appreciated. Cheers Fellas'!
