New R2 Remote problem

    Received my new R2 remote just before Christmas. The remote was completely dead out of the box. Charged it fully and two days later it was dead again having not been used.
    Recharged it (light turns from red to green), battery indicator showing full. Turned it off, and 24 hours later, again board hadn’t been ridden, the remote was completely dead.
    Obviously the remote was turned off and yet the battery still drained.
    Unfortunately Evolve are shut until the 4th Jan!!
    Any thoughts or is it a return/replace?

    I have the same issue with the R2 that came with a GTX. I've reverted to an old remote, which retains the charge quite well, but this is a big issue. Thing that is frustrating is this the second R2 I've had in 2 weeks. First one last about an hour before all the buttons stopped working...arghh. Great boards, great design but there are a few teething issues to overcome for sure.

    This just sums up how good Evolve’s (UK) customer service is. Even though they’re closed for Christmas until 4th Jan, I’ve just had a reply to my message saying that a small number of R2 remotes have had an issue where a component has been drawing power whilst it is turned off.
    Will return for a replacement.

    Excellent news, service has always been good in the UK and from our local retailer The Snowboard Shop in Fleet.....will return when back home after the Xmas break. People forget sometimes we have to suffer for our art....happy carving all.

    Same problem, charged it, put it in the box, 3 days later dead. But it seems German Evolve customer service is just as good :)

    Yup, also have the same issue. Will try and get it replaced as well...

    since mine is already ordered from the limited discount offer i guess ill just have to hope i get a good one, and i will be sure not to go on a ride without taking my original GT remote as backup...

    For someone who has just ordered the gtx (and spanked a lot of hard earned cash in the process) this is rather worrying! Sounds like the evolve customer service is decent, but quality control appears virtually non existent!

    I will cross my fingers and hope when mine eventually ships it doesn’t suffer these drain problems....

    Your first clue is that out of the box the remote has zero charge and won’t turn on. Most devices are shipped with some charge.
    Secondly, after a full charge the remote will not turn on shortly after 24 hours or so.
    They’ve said they will sort it. Good enough.

    I've got my new remote on pre order hopefully they will have it sorted by then. But it's got me wondering what is actually wrong with evolve as a company to treat its customers like this? Why not test things and release them when they actually work? Is it just me who finds this really weird considering what we've all spent on our boards. I just can't understand it.

    I was/is crap but let’s say evolve is how your fam stays in nice clothes and eats good food. You try to get the new remote out for the Christmas rush but there are some delays so you get on your guys and say SALES NUBERS will suffer and so will you if you don’t get it done! So they did, just to get the boss off their butts.
    Now they will have to figure out the loss for all of the faulty remotes being sent back and blame it on someone. That’s the way bussneses are run.

    I have the same problem with the new remote (R2) Dead without using or very little time using it, every time. I just sent an email to Evolve Germany to notify them and asking what to do.

    Same problem here. Battery is totally drained and unable to charge up at all after 2 weeks.

    Yes, same problem for me.
    Any one know the technical issues?
    Looks like a current leak somewhere, maybe can be fixed replacing a single component on the board, like a capacitor.

    Evolve UK have already responded to my email. They are going to swap it via post this coming week.
    It’s a known issue and you’re local distributor will no doubt sort it out for you. Drop them a line.

    Already did. i have no doub that Germany support is awesome.
    But if it's a 20cent capacitor to be replaced i can save to evolve the effort and replace the part myself.

    I thought of that, but as the board isn’t getting much use at the mo, due to the weather, I figured I was happy with them swapping it.
    I understand that it is a component on the board drawing current.

    if it is a component on the board that is causing the issue, would swapping it helps? Do let us know once you have receive a new remote.

    mine is still not even shipped and i bought it the night they got anounced...

    ill probably get a **** one have to send it back at my expence then wait again...

    never mind i actually like the original gt remote and its battery display as a % which sadly the new one is lacking !
