Hey dude, are you willing to share your design ?
I just made the battery upgrade and unfortunately i can't have access to any CNC around here.
    But i have a 3D printer !

Looks great! With an accurate design and good quality filament it's a damn good option.

hi, does anyone know if it would be possible in any case to fit the GTC electronics under a Bamboo deck?

I have the GTC and the deck is fckd, so I can't think right now of spending 400Euro on a deck.

The bamboo deck is 100+50 cover, so 150Euro.

    Thanks

  8. Hi Everyone,
What dimensions has the battery case for this longbord generation? LxWxH

-Evolve bms can only handle 60A current so anything above just overkill. I have 30q cells in 4p10s what gives 60A continious, 80A max.
-avoid the cheap chinese spot welder
    -make your pack flexible enough
    -enjoy building!

Is there a way to do this battery pack without modding the deck or enclosure for more space?

I just finished a 18650 battery swap. I found a 3d printed spacer on Thingyverse. Cost me like $20 to have made. Fit was a little off but easily fixed. I’d like the files for the spacer a few pages back. That looks like a better fit than mine @UrNzWy

    Can a 10s 3p fit without modifying

It would fit within the factory deck cutout but I believe the 18650 is a little taller so deck flex may be a concern

Yes, the CGT battery, BMS, and motor controller will fit in one of the Bamboo decks. The safer bet is the GTX deck as it has slightly more room that the GT due to the portion that is routed out of the bottom side of the deck. Don't forget to buy the enclosure.

Nope. When you do this mod, you need to stack the BMS on top of the motor controller. Without the spacer or additional space routed out from under the deck, it won't fit. The 18650 cells also benefit from the additional space since the board flexes The gained space gives the pack some safe room to move around, limiting the potential to break one of the battery welds, causing a short and a fiery death (to your board). The spacer is really the best way to go. There is another design posted on Thingiverse that has 4 parts. That's the one I used.

A 10S3P would not be worth the effort. You wouldn't get enough of a bump in torque and range.

What welder is the best to get for this project?

I’m just starting a similar project for my wife’s a Bamboo GT. Here in Brisbane Australia we’ve an active FB group. When I raised the issue of space there I got this reply:

This spacer from Murray Owen is a cracker too if you have a 3d printer with a big enough bed (it needs 300mm x 300mm). Gives enough room to use the standard box with a 10p4s array.

    Hope it helps!
