Another remote post. Can only ride in ECO?

So I finally got my Carbon GT on Friday morning :metal:.
Im 39 Y/O and never been on a longboard in my life, but I was a skateboard/snowboarder in age 12-20.
I started of in Slow, easy and smooth, but to slow.....Bumped it up to Eco mode and only used that mode the whole weekend.

Yesterday I felt comfortable in Eco, riding this board is super easy :grinning:, AND SO MUCH FUN.
SO after a few miles in Eco mode, I was ready to try the nest level, Fast mode....But then the problems started.

I had over 50% of battery left when I made my first try in Fast mode, and I was flying on the board in 30 km/h for 15-20 min, and then I noticed that my board dropped down to Eco by itself?
I stopped, went back to fast, But 5 min later I was in Eco AGAIN.....Hmmm something seems wrong....So I made this video to show what happens :

    My question: Is this normal?
And why is the battery showing 32%-36% like in the video, but goes down to 5% when I ride in Fast mode?
The battery is fine in Eco.....Could ride it for an hour more in that mode. (whit 42% left). But if I try Fast.... its just drop to almost 0%...seems like I have a faulty battery?

Whit all the remote discussions on this forum, Im kind of amazed that someone who works at Evolve haven't made a post explaining exactly how the remote works, and what type of RC/Bluetooth the board use?

Anyway....Would love to hear how the board works for other riders....Can you ride in fast mode whit battery under 40%?
I cant, like you see in the video....And its kind of sad, since Eco have to little torc for me to ride on.

    Thanks for any answers.

    Side Question:

What wheel settings should I use when I drive whit AT wheels? The remote came whit the setting at 80mm 32T, But I saw a guy in an other video had it on 175mm 66T.
Whats the correct setting when I use AT setup?

    Cheers Kenneth

I think this is "by design" with the latest remote - its due to a voltage sag (drop) and the new battery protection feature. (others have said they prefer the original remote that didn't do this - on the other hand it is better for longevity on the battery to not take it so low even for a short period)

Yeah thats what I figured.....Its seems to auto-gear down when B% goes under 20%. And thats fine whit me.
BUT... what surprised me was the super-rapid drop from 46% down to 32% in 5 min on Fast mode on flat surface. Thats a LOT of battery drop, isn't it?
And when I stared this video I was on 32%. 10 Min later I had under 20. So the battery drops really fast, when you go from Eco to Fast mode...Is this normal?

I charged the battery last night, took the board for a 15 min spin in fast mode, no issues whit the board gearing down now, and after 15 min of riding full throttle in Fast I still have 95% battery left....So seems to be fine if I keep the battery over 50%, then I won't have this issue I think.

But could anyone give me a tip on what to put the Wheel setting on when riding on the stock AT Wheels?
It came whit the setting on 80mm 32t....but I have a feeling thats wrong, don`t know if this setting matters much, but should I change it? And what should I use? 175mm 66T?

    Thanks :punch:

yea Its likely more of an exponential battery drain curve - notice how you are at 100% on the battery for some time - then it drops faster as you continue to ride - maybe others can chime in there - I've only ever ridden the bottom 50% of my pack once - usually I'm in the 80-100% range (as I charge up in advance of every ride) - also I noticed my initial remote problems around the time the board kept dropping to ECO from FAST the first day I rode and crashed hard when my remote glitched (so now I'm leary and charge up all the way each time)

I think the stock size is 83 x 32 - mine also came the way yours did (so the speeds were a bit off)

Yeah thats the stock street wheel setting, 83mm 32T. But on AT I saw a guy had his on 175mm 66T? Anyone driving the AT setup that can answer this?

You can change this ... just go to wheel settings by pressing two time fast the left button and go to wheel setting to set the remote with your current wheel setup :)

AT wheels settings are 175mm 66T changing only makes the speed reading more accurate

This is normal operation. You're battery was much lower than your battery percentage meter was indicating. When you put a heavy load on the battery, the voltage will drop(it takes a lot of power to send a full grown man hurdling down the road at 22+ mph).

That battery percentage indicator is just using battery voltage to determine a percentage. So when he voltage drops during heavy amperage draw, your percentage indicator will fall below the eco threshold. You really want to go off of battery percentage during full load.

Eco mode ramps down acceleration heavily(but still seems to allow you to reach ALMOST top speed). By doing this it limits the amperage draw and allows you to ride a little bit further without causing permanent damage to your battery.

In my opinion, evolve made a good decisions by implementing this feature. I believe a lot of boards allow the user to pull heavy amperage draw on a low battery, and this is what causes damage(aka boosted boards catching fire)

I know this sounds like a silly question, but does ECO mode allow you to get the furthest distance?

yes thats what they say - all range specs are in reference to ECO mode

Been riding the GT for 1 week now, and Im so impressed whit this Board :ok_hand::cool:
Its truly amazing, I have a lot of hills around me, and the bord just flyes up every singel one.

I have never had a dropout whit my board, so remote and everything seems to be working perfekt.I just keep the battery over 50% and have no problems whit drops from fast/gt down to Eco anymore .

Had a 20km ride yesterday. Only used Fast mode, and when I came home after that long ride the battery was at 47%!!!
Thats crazy :scream::cool::punch:. (Im only 73kg, but still, thats a really impressive range)

    To sum it up:

If you`re still are on the fence, when it comes to spending over 2k pounds on a board....GO FOR IT!!
I promise you....... This will be the coolest purgace you will ever make. Insane amount of fun.

Im a super-lazy dude, drive my motorcycle even for a trip to the next block :p. But now I only ride the GT everyday. And I want to take the long way home every time, so I even get some exercise when having a ton of fun.

    Im a really happy customer.

    Stay safe folks.

    Cheers from Spain
