Acceleration loss?

    Hello guys!

I'm a proud owner of a Bamboo GT for about 5 weeks now, and I use it almost everyday to commute or just for fun.

I'm exclusively in fast mode to enjoy fast acceleration required when you ride in a busy city. I'm probably getting more and more used with this acceleration, but I'm quite sure that the board has lost some of its accelerating power for the last few days... still reaching the desired speed, but it feels like a mix between fast en eco now. Not the same push. Even the motors seem more quiet...

The board probably needs a good maintenance checkup at this time (clean bearings, tightening screws and belts,...), but I am wondering if you guys have experienced that... any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

    Greetings feom France!

I felt the same, getting used to body position and speed. I also swapped onto AT's which dulled down the torque and speed

Is it possible your getting used to the speed/torque?
I thought I had the same issue, but quickly realised how fast I was going when I came off today haha

Been riding the board for over 6 months now there definitely is a loss in performance. One thing I noticed is that the board no longer can last as long as it originally did. For example I used to ride it a lot in the parks on grass and rode it really hard that originally lasted me a good 20-30min before the board shuts down for its own protection.. now if I were just to even ride it on the grass without pushing it hard it wouldn't last not even 5 minutes and then shut down....I had contacted Evolve about the issue of course they just dismissed it to my riding style ..and that was that. But what I am suspecting is that it is a faulty design issue with the motor controller that has over heating issues.

I am probably getting used of the torque effectively... Maybe the belt is a little bit stretched now.... For a global loss of performance, it could be the battery as it is known to be cheap.

Well I am not getting the distance as I used to as in the beginning it may be a combination of factors but as for the rapid shut down on off road environment when the board is fully charged I don't think that has to do with the battery.

I'm pretty certain after reading all comments that it's a battery issue. Batteries will deteriorate over time from charging and if not left full or partly charged when not in use.

    Try balancing your pack.

Has anyone purchased a new battery from Evolve ?
    How much ?
I definitely dont have the skills to build my own one... although I could thanks the very detailed write up recently done.

Hi mate. Wondering if you are running streets or AT's? I've done nearly 9000 kms on mine since last July mostly on AT and if my tyre pressure is low, my acceleration and range both suffer big time.

I haven't even popped open 83mm streets I had bought the bigger 97mm used it only once and went straight back to AT ever since. I got my BGT in November and use it as a daily transport and occasionally for rec time. When I first rode it on the park on grass the thing was a beast it was like unstoppable now the thing throws a fit once it feels like it has some resistance. I always keep my tires at the recommended psi and I run actually on 8" AT @ 60psi. Performance definitely has decreased dramatically and definitely not getting the distance I used to.

Running your board until it automatically shuts down due to low voltage is bad for your battery. If you do this a lot I imagine it would have permanent effects on it.

I doesn't seem to shut down because of low voltage because I do have ample charge left the many times I've ridden the board hard or in however most recently just putting it on grass would make it shut down....even going up the usually steep hills that I have had no issue before puts it into eco ...like I said I don't think it's the battery it maybe the motor controller that has some sort of problem. Well that is what it feels and looks like to me cause I do have charge when the problem usually arises

If you're getting a new battery, I would try to get a custom one made. I heard Longhairedboy was willing to build custom batteries for someone else on this forum. There's also barajabali and psychotiller on Electric Skateboard Builders Forum | Learn How to Build your own E-board Just have to send in the original BMS because it's the only one that'll work in evolve's motor controller.

My BGT has defo lost acceleration and distance achievable.

I can't make it to work on one charge anymore even with being boringly slow, have to carry it up hills. the CGT I have makes it to work and back with time to spare.

How old is your board? If you can't make hill climbs you were able to before, and it's still under warranty, then the battery is definitely defective. How far is your commute?

5-8km's do you know how to check battery cycles? I've been taking it to work then charging it and riding back.

    Go into menu settings.
    Go to More Info.
    Click right button twice.
    Click and hold left button.
Top of screen should say Recycle Cnt: ##.
    Tell us that number.
Are you AT or Street? How steep are your hills? What mode do you ride in normally?
