Changing the battery

  1. I am getting some serious mileage out of my Bamboo GT. I've hit over 10 miles a few times but have am getting quicker. And the faster I go the more juice I am using. I wondered if it was possible to change the battery on the Bamboo GT like you can the Carbon GT? It would be super useful to be able to carry a spare battery to double my distance.

There is no easy way to swap the battery, but some people changed the stock battery on the old Gen2-boards to a higher quality custom battery with double the range.
I have one of these boards and get 50km on my Pintail and don't need to swap battery every.
This should theoretically be possible on the Bamboo GT too, but nobody have tried yet and it's not cheap and would affect warranty.

I will keep you posted on my progress. Have a big deck getting made to fit a larger battery. Plans to get a new enclosure made. I guess it's another option to just use higher capacity cells. The Bms specs are something that needs to be worked out.

I was just hoping that the battery was swappable. The carbon has 2 different batteries one for flying and the long life. I figured if they swappable on the Carbon that they would be on the Bamboo?

Carbon has only one battery. However both Bamboo and Carbon batteries could be made swap-able ish quite easy, just need to undo the screws, unplug and off you go. If I was making mine swap-able i'd change the connectors to make it a bit quicker

Definitely needs to be one push/slide in connector like a PC graphics board. And battery compartment needs to pivot to open up opposite end to slide it in.

you can swap the GT batteries, only thing is they can be quite expensive, they are not listed on the website, but if you call they will give you a price. The carbon GT has more than enough range I find, I usually get tired before the board does.

If I was to swap the connectors would void my warranty? Also can someone from Evolve give us an idea on battery price?

I have a original carbon, where would one start if I wanted to find an aftermarket battery, what specs/size to look for?
I feel if i was to replace the fading stock battery it may be best to upgrade if possible in the process. I'm ok with soldering.crimping etc

I haven't done this by myself, but other people build custom batteries, like this:

The Sanyo NCR18650GA is a great battery for the Gen2 (not for the GT)
I had a guy in Germany who build a 10S4P for me but he isn't doing this anymore

    Thx for that.
Do u know of anybody else that offers custom battery solutions as I am not that confident with a soldering iron and/or calculating voltage, amps etc
