Hidden remote menu: Protocol V1/V2

So I read here about accessing the hidden remote menus(BMS, ESC) and was messing around with them on my ride around a large parking lot last night. My board suddenly stopped working and I had to get a ride home.

The remote said battery shutdown or something along those lines. I tried everything to get the board and remote to pair agian to no avail. Disconnecting batter for 30 seconds ect....

Later that night it was bothering my that I was unable to diagnose the problem so I started messing with the hidden menus again.

I noticed that when you are on the ESC screen(the one that shows wheel rpm) there is a section at the bottom that shows either: Protocol: V1/V2. Mine was V2 by default the first time i accessed the menu. This time however I noted that it said V1 instead of V2. I figured out that you can change this value by double tapping the right button while in this special menu. After changing it back to V2 my board paired easily and works perfectly normal.

The weird thing is, that i was riding for at least a few miles after i accidentally changed this. I am wondering if this allowed my board to hit the low voltage cutoff without switching me down to eco. I will do some more testing tonight to be sure.

Does anyone know what this value is/does? I searched and found no info/discussion's on this here yet. Im curious what that value is for those of you with remotes that have the old firmware. Maybe this is a way to cycle between old/new firmware Thoughts?

Edit: For anyone who is curious, I talked to Evolve today on the phone about this because I had a separate warranty issue to call about anyway. Long story short V1 is the original remote firmware that does not downshift. However, you would need a V1 speed controller for this mode to even work. Apparently only the first few hundred boards were shipped with the V1 controller

from memory there have a few updates to the motor controllers and obviously the Remote firmware too, there are issues with the update not working well on boards without the new motor controllers, that is where you have to change the setting from V1 to V2. So If you had an older board with a certain motor controller, AND you just got your remote firmware updated, you may have to swap the modes to get it to work.
