    Hi all,

I'm based in Auckland, New Zealand, rode a skateboard as a teenager and haven't really ridden one since. I recently decided it was time to spice up my commute to work each day (as well as my weekends) by purchasing a GT Carbon that arrived just over a week ago. The board is awesome and I'm seriously happy with the purchase. I will however own up to the fact that the first week of ownership has included a couple of key learnings. One was about the behaviour of the board/remote and the other from an incident involving some unfortunate abrasions of the skin.
doh Following the first learning I am now WAY more cautious when changing modes while in motion (skipping straight to GT from Eco is a little...disconcerting!). And as for the second learning, well, like a new car the first scratch is always going to be the worst right?!

Anyway, I am looking forward to being part of what is clearly an active community and hope to grow/build/unite those that are a little closer to me here in New Zealand so that I can share the buzz of riding with others.

Ouch! How fast do you reckon you were going when that occurred? I'm close-ish to you in Wellington, just got my board on Friday and had my first go on the weekend. I picked up some kids skateboard pads (knee and elbow) from the Warehouse for 12 bucks, because they're kids sized they fit under jeans and a hoodie - you should check them out too. BTW - jandals? It must be a lot warmer in Auckland than Wellington....
