Taped up my motor cooling holes, we'll see how things hold up.

Using what I've seen on my larger motor Metroboard I've taped with black electrical tape the cooling holes of the motor. Thing is that so much dirt and dust gets blow back there and that's just going into the motor which in turn is going into the motor bearings. This is with street / paved riding only, so going offroad there's much more of that stuff getting into your motor. Evolve says you can hit compressed air into those holes, but honestly, what that does is push it deeper into places you don't want it to go. In essence making the problem worse. There hasn't been any issue with what I can see these motors failing so there's no issue form Evolve I'm addressing. Just being proactive. Will ride and take my temp infared gun with me and hit the housing to get temp numbers. I should have got some with the vents open. Then ride my normal rides and record the data. Best if you could read the temps from the motor sensor. The motor will shut down if it overheats so no big deal. In all honesty the correct way to clean out these motors is to pull them off, pull the gear off, separate the motor housing and begin cleaning things out. So what I'm trying to do here is to maximize that interval. Note if your doing major hills and major offloading that the motors will heat. So you have to feel this one out with your riding style.

So you reckon there are temp sensors already inside the motor that could potentially be tapped into?

    Nice

Yes. When you have more than 2 wires running to the motor typically one is a data wire. Just felt the harness and there's 3 or more in there.

Went for a quick ride holding top speed for a while, ran my hand on the motors and they feel quite warm. Didn't feel the motors before taping the cooling holes. So I need to be a bit more better with tallying up the data. Over time I'll do that.
