Time for some new grip tape. The stock tape came off quite easily, I used a hair dryer for about a minute to loosen it up just a little, and I was surprised it pulled right off cleanly, apart from one little spot around one of the screw holes, where it seemed to remove a little of the clear coat. The new tape is a little better quality, and had more grip to it, I'm going to cut out some designs and take it right to the edges to provide a little more grip.

Nice! Yeah, my 'E' started coming off when I went to clean my old carbon. To be fair it was caked in mud from the park so it needed a proper clean! Might redo the whole board.

You recommend any particular type of heavy duty tape?

Try "Finish Line Showroom Polish & Protectant" on the carbon it should bring back the shine, which you can find on Amazon.com.

I use Jessup Grip Tape, find it lasts longer than MOB, but everyone will have their own brand they like.

heres what it looked like after I was finished, the design is not much of a design at all, I did plan out some cool image, but stuffed up on the cutting half way through, so opted for this instead, standard shape, repeated, and allows for easy placement, and replacement as patches wear out over time. Justin Morgan has used the same style and seems to work well, the board has much better grip now, and I would recommend this to anyone with the Carbon GT, as the sides can get slippery.

I added some anti-slip tape to edges - made a huge improvement to grip!

While we're on the subject of grip tape, here's a good way to clean it:

Top idea, that was my first thoughts for improvements when first trying out a CBT.

Doesn't look as fancy and shiny out of the box with grip tape there though, I suppose :p

Shiny carbon looks great out of the box as you say but the slightest addition of moisture or sand and it can get slippy... mine feels really secure when I'm carving hard at speed now and gives me the confidence to do it... :grinning:. I know it's personal preference but I think they should arrive like this...

    Nice coverage above.
Has anyone experimented with clear grip tape? ...curious if the carbon fiber weaves would show through.

That was very useful, I bought a sanding belt block from amazon to get the dirt off my from going through the park, but it's not that useful on it's own. Looks like I need to get a wirebrush to really do the trick.
