Boosted V2 or Evolve Bamboo GT

OK, so I've been waiting for almost a YEAR on Boosted V2 and my number has finally come up. However, I have 2 weeks to order my Boosted V2 or let it go and get a Bamboo GT (which I like a lot).

Which one should I get. Bamboo goes further but has cutout issues with the controller.

Boosted long range battery is only 12 miles and won't come until FALL 2017 (which means Spring 2018). I do get the free "standard" short range battery of 4 - 7 miles for now.

Let me know your thoughts and comments.

I was in the same boat when the v2 came out. I canceled and went with the bamboo GT and couldnt be more happier. You also can run AT on the GT but not on the boosted board. I have never had a cut out at all and I think most of the ones that have were the carbons.

  3. I did a pre-order for the Boosted v2. I ended up cancelling it and getting a Bamboo GT. That range difference is the dealbreaker for me. Also Boosted isn't without it's own issues. Many of the V2's have a RLOD issue where the battery connection gets severed. Some are able to fix it with tightening the connection but not everyone. My point is, every board is going to have some issues. What you need to realize is that hearing people say they have issues is anecdotal.

Of course, if you ask this question on a mainly Evolve forum you'll get a lot of biased answers :D

But there are several people here who own both. I guess it just comes down to what you want to get out of the board.

Some bamboos have cut out issue but thats the minority >5% and can be resolved working with Evolve if your unlucky enough to experience it. Its either the remote or controller that needs replacing.

If you could get to try one vs boosted your decision would be easy, Evolve :poop: all over Boosted in terms of performance and versatility. Evolve is a carving machine with its super carve trucks and also leaves the Boosted for dust in a race off. Then you have the option of multiple wheels, ABECs, Kegals, All-terrain and off road wheels etc. Its a simple decision really ;)

  5. Andy brings up a good point. The versatility of the Evolve boards is a huge plus as well. You're able to easily swap out wheels to suit your riding style. They even offer different drive gears to fit other wheels too. Most components are modular and user-swappable. If you do have an issue, chances are it's something you could fix if you have the part on hand.

Been an Evolve Carbon gen 2 carbon rider for a year now, wanted something lighter and more portable so I pre-ordered a Boosted Board V2.

I was literally a week or two away from my order getting processed and shipped in November when the battery issue halted sales.

Ended up ordering an Acton Blink S instead to satiate my small, light, compact and good value desire. Should hopefully have it in the next month. I couldn't afford to get a GT and wanted to see what kind of utility I could get from a much cheaper ultralight.

Even though I created this site, I like to feel I remain impartial and open to trying new boards to experience the good and bad of anything I encounter, and I think anyone looking needs to look for the board that satisfies their needs.

If deciding now between Boosted and and GT though as your only board, and first electric skateboard, for the price, the Evolve Bamboo GT is a no brainer. The fact that you can put AT tyres on it, plus the range increase makes it a clear winner IMO. So much more versatile and you can ride for longer before recharging.

If your primary concern is weight, (which is only marginally better on a Boosted V2 vs Bamboo GT street wheel setup), and you're really hung up about it, then I'd consider the boosted. But if you can handle a marginal increase in comparison for better range and the option of AT wheels, then I'd definitely go for a Bamboo.

That is unless you could source a board from another manufacturer even lighter than the Boosted V2 as a super compact, lightweight, short distance last mile device.

Evolve GT bamboo or carbon is hard to beat but in my opinion if you want the best and greatest Carvon Revo 4wd is where its at.

I have used both and I have plenty of experience with both so here goes.

    Boosted Board V2:
If you are using it mainly for transportation and you don't need more than 4 miles of range, I'd say the Boosted v2 is the better option. The flexible Bamboo deck combined with the super high quality Orangatangs makes for a really comfortable ride. The board will be absolutely rock solid and always reliable. I think something else people here are failing to mention about the weight of the Boosted Board is that its weight distribution is spread out much more equally than that of the GT series, so carrying it is much easier - it feels much lighter than the GT. Customer service I've heard is also excellent.

    Evolve GT:
Now, the GT series are so much more fun and the range is significantly better. These boards will likely be very reliable but from a practicality standpoint in terms of transportation, they honestly aren't as great as the Boosted Board. For recreational use and to get your adrenaline pumping, these boards are much better than the Boosted Board. Flooring the board from a standstill in GT mode gives you that rush every. single. time. I personally own a Carbon GT and love it! I ride it every single day and have no drop outs to report of. Solid board and the customer service is very good as well.

    Batteries:
This is an important topic as they both use a different chemistry. Evolve sadly cheaped out a little bit on the battery side so the board will perform great for the first half of the battery but sadly will downshift to ECO from FAST or GT mode at the lower half due to voltage sag. The Boosted Board will consistently give you the same great performance all the way till the battery dies - granted its a much shorter range.

Either way you go, you will be happy with your purchase. Trust me, both are genuinely great boards - the best of the best in terms of what's out right now.

I had a boosted 2 order and would have had my board shipped in the next week but went for the Bamboo GT in the end. So happy I did. The only reason I was sticking with the boosted was the battery was able to be taken on a plane (99Wh) and the Bamboo GT can't (260+Wh). Now that I have my bamboo GT it lives on the all terrain wheels. So good for any type of pathway, if people are on them, you pass them on the grass, you don't feel the constant "pump" of the slab joints on path ways, and there are a lot of wooden plank bridges on the paths I ride which I can cross no problem. I couldn't have done any of this with a Boosted so I'm super happy. Plus the extra miles do count, even if you never think you'll go that far...... you won't want to stop riding

Not yet bet I have been thinkin real hard about it. I really want the Revo but not at the price that is offered right now. If someone backs out on the lower price one I will jump on it. The Evo is real nice as well.

That's a really good point. I'm constantly overtaking pededtrians, giving them a wide berth by going off road from paths on my AT's and don't give it a second thought.

I agree with you completely. Both are great. Boosted for short rides, GT for long never ending rides.
