image.jpeg Hello, my remote could no longer charge electricity, since it had taken up slack, when opening it to inspect it, the USB plug had lost the solder points.

Unfortunately I lost the USB plug,

If anyone has any of a useless remote control i could buy it, I also appreciate if someone sends me a photo or tells me exactly what kind of plug it is.

    I think it's the micro usb-b but I'm sure

    Thank you

if the PCB usb pads are still good and you know how to solder you can put a new micro USB connector on there. Looks like the USB cable somehow had leverage to pry it off the PCB board. Happens with electronics, usually drop testing and things like that are performed on large mass produced consumer devices to prevent this and re-enforced to make it better and more failure prone.

Hard to tell if the pads are good or bad. They look good to me, so might be salvageable.

You'll need to do your own research looking at pics to ensure they're the same.

Note you only need the positive and negative lines, you don't need any of the data lines since no data is being passed. You're using the USB micro as a charger only.

Take your control to ANY Pc or phone repair shop and they will solder on a new one for you in 15 min. They have them as spare parts so just get one there. (I payed around 10-15 Euros to get this fixed)
Lost mine several times in different phones, Googles and a Mini LCD screen. This should be no problem to fix, since its looks like all your 5 pins on the controls is fine. If one of the 5 pins are broken, you ned a new control.

    Good luck

Only pins you need for the remote to charge is V+ and Ground. We don't need the data pins. The data pins are to flash new firmware to the remote and debugging by Evolve. The schematic I supplied shows which pins are V+ and ground.

can you please post a clear picture of the front of the lower part of the main circuit board on the remote - curious to see what text we can read off the chips for identification (re: embedded radio chip set / bluetooth etc)

also - do you see anything that resembles an antenna ?

Hmm, I might need to do this to.

My pre-GT carbon remote hasn't charged properly the last two times I've plugged it in to use it.

I have to plug it in, then pull the wire in one direction to put pressure on it and wrap the wire around the remote to maintain the pressure and the connection in order to charge it.

Will look into it properly and take the remote apart to check the connection when I get back from holiday.

The same symptoms that I have, probably desoldered one of the welding points.

A omeone could put a photo with detail of the welding? I would like to see how are the pins that go to the welding.

    Thanks!!!

The solder points are self explanatory, you have 5 pins or tabs on the board where the old connector went. The new connector fits only one way on that board. Just solder them down. As I mentioned up above you don't need all 5, only 2 which is ground and VCC (Vbus) / positive. But if you want to solder all 5 down like it was go ahead. You're not sending data across that plug, only Evolve was and most likely how they flashed or tested the remote.

only the sides of the connector are welded, but not the 5 pins, which are attached to the logic board by preassure contact

Need detail pict of the metal eyelashes

I dont have any pictures, but look on Youtube...Soldering a micro usb, ton of videos there.

Its pretty easy....Take the new micro usb, clip it on to the usb-cable, so its easy to hold. Now bend all the 5 pins down a mm, so they make easy contact whit the 5 pins on the control. Now just solder the 2 sides back on the board.

Most people also solder every pin, but you dont need that. Just solder the sides. If your going to solder all 5 pins you need a heat gun.

    Cheers
