R2 remote upgrade differences

  1. The R2 remote software update was needed badly. The initial pairing when powering on was hit and miss, and the battery would last 2-3 rides at very most. I also noticed the battery would drain if not even being used for a few days. I got mine exchanged for one with the updates, after having an issue with the screen. They sent me the replacement only asking I send the old one back with the return label they sent. I haven't seen anyone show the battery size difference yet and I had the chance to take this pic so I wanted to share it. The new one is double the size of the old one. Only other diferance I see is the screw below the battery has a red cardboard washer on it when the old one does not. I feel like evolve kinda rushed the remote through R&D to try and make them available for Christmas sales but didn't hit a home run with what was brought to market. However they knew it was inferior to what should have been made so they kept improving it. Now they have a remote that works how it should.

I had the battery and firmware upgrade last week. Great service from the UK team (as usual) however one of my remotes is still suffering with battery drain within 36 hours of a full charge without even using the remote. I'm sure the guys will get it sorted but the inconsistency between products is surprising and irritating. That said, the R2 is a giant leap forward in terms of usability and safety.

I haven't noticed a battery drain on my replacement. I've only had it a week. But I've only charged it once since the initial charge when I got it. I drain the boards battery every day going to and from work and just for fun on most days I don't work also. Nice to hear someone from the UK getting great service. Seems I usually read about below par service from UK. But maybe I just think I see that. I do see plenty of other posts with great service from the US like I've gotten.

At least there's one upside in having to wait 4 months to get one!! (still waiting.....)

4 months..! Sorry to say I'm having my early troublesome R2 (with battery drain) swapped tomorrow thanks to the UK team. Finally some good weather this week and the R2 is getting a solid testing...and it's significantly better than the original allowing for a far more relaxed ride. Hope yours turns up soon

Yeah I'm on the 4 month waiting list too. Just emailed and was told I am still a couple months out from getting the R2 remote. Thankfully the R1 hasn't given me much problems other than 30 mph downhill braking and almost being ejected off because of the hard catch of the brake. Adds some variety to the ride.

Praying for a R2 soon. Someone help.
