Hi all, I've had a Bamboo GT street for about 6 months now which I love. The weather's started getting better in the uk recently so I purchased some 97mm 75a ABEC 11 Flywheels as everyone on the internet seems to rave about them. I fitted them and went to my usual spot which has a mix of rough and smooth asphalt. I was expecting the new wheels to silently roll over the fairly smooth paths that the standard wheels cope with but rattle a little on - The flywheels were exactly the same, they rattle like a cheap skateboard and my feet are in agony from the vibrations within 5 mins! I've uploaded a photo of the path, as you can see it's not exactly cobbled streets! The first conclusion I've drawn is maybe I've brought fake wheels? They were ~£100 on Amazon and look and feel genuine to me. I'm very disappointed, I've got a conventional longboard with 3DM wheels that glides over this surface (might try and engineer these to fit!) Has anyone heard of flywheels being faked? Or am I expecting too much?

  2. my friend from great britaina,
the only way to truly enjoy this board is by using all train wheels buddy,
those street wheels are only for silky smooth asphalt...
    got it.
now go out there and buy some at wheels.

hyperjon, I use the Abec’s you have pictured there with Bones Red bearings and have no rattle from the wheels. I have a GTC with a nose guard and the nose guard sometimes rattles but once I put a small piece of velcro between the plastic and the carbon deck the rattle stopped. If I get some time this week I will add a photo and a video of how mine rolls so you can see and hear. I would probably redo my bearings and spacers to see if something is amiss. fasi-carbon-gt is correct that the AT will roll smooth and pretty much over everything but I enjoy the ride of urethane wheels. The ATs also require maintenance as well. On at least two occasions, particularly after some hard curving days on the ATs I would get a clicking sound. After doing wheel maintenance on them which involves taking them off and inserting clean bearings and spacers the click goes away. Just so we are clear I generally have a spare set of bearings available. I take out the old bearings, inspect them, clean them and apply speed cream making them ready for the next cycle. Every dozen rides or so I have a bearing or two that just needs to be chucked. At $15 per set I am not breaking the bank. Enjoy.

hypejon, I posted a video response to your post which can be viewed in the Gallery here on this site or at this youtube link. Take a listen to the sound and see if yours are like that. I can tell you I can ride this board until the battery is dead and my feet don't hurt. I would think with the bamboo having more flex then the carbon you would have an even smoother ride. Hope it helps but either way enjoy and have a great day.

What wheels did you use before you bought these?
