G'day there fellow e-enthusiasts....I've joined the forums about a week or so ago so thought I'd better say howdy.
I'm living on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Aus. and been flying up and down the bike tracks and well, just about everywhere...loving it and as most - have quickly becoming addicted. No skate experience but an obsessive snowboarder for over 20 years so feel pretty comfortable on the Bamboo GT already....Problem for me now is "range"... I'm finding I want more and now looking towards the Carbon for that extra bit...
Any advice would be great with regards to whether the upgrade is worth is or not would be appreciated. I do love the feeling of the Bamboo and is why I grabbed one instead of the more solid Carbon but as it's so hilly around my area, I find I'm cutting my rides short due to limited range.
Anyway, if any riders are down my way, would be great to find out where people are riding and perhaps a join up..
    cheers, Rob..

  2. Welcome!

Also, if you're not already aware, you can do a few things to increase your range. Some solid suggestions that don't involve staying in ECO mode are to kick pump to take off before accelerating (rather than accelerate from a dead stop) and keeping a steady speed - as in, don't throttle up and down, try to maintain the same speed as you go. There are some other things you can do but those things will help some. Also, if you're using AT tires, they do drain battery more than the streets. If you're using them, be sure to keep them inflated (around 40-50PSI or so depending on what tires you're using)

Yes, thanks... having read some tips and tricks, these things definately help. Kick starting is taking some getting used to but I'm getting there. I must grab myself a tire gauge as well to keep a check on pressure.. I found that rather than going flat out downhill, just cruising helps with the regenerative power seems to add a fair bit to the battery conservation. I would still like to know the real terms with regards to the Carbon versus Bamboo range. They say 10k's or so but if in real terms, if it's much less, then would probably not worth the upgrade.

Welcome Rob! Glad you're enjoying it! I was the same when I started, had been snowboarding for years and even instructed for a season, had never skated though.

It was a weird sensation at first not having the board slide out from under me like a board, with the AT tyres gripping like mad. But it's awesome now that I know the extent of that grip and can trust it when carving hard around a corner.

There's some good posts in various threads about the range on the CGT vs BGT. A lot has to do with the tyres you use and other factors such as tyre pressure if using the ATs, as lex mentioned above.

Have a search, there's some good reading or post up if you have any other questions :)
