SAFETY CONCERN RELATED TO POOR DESIGN - ENGINEERING FAILURE IN DUTY OF CARE

    https://mtecc.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/2013-152-ACLN-6-Duty-of-Care-in-Design.pdf

    Hi,

I am a system designer in renewable energy storage.

I just had an accident on my GTR. The brake engaged when I was at full speed.

I rolled on my shoulder however, the bone took all the force from the impact in one point.

My bones are very hard and do not brake easily, the doctor's report states that luckily there is nothing broken, only just a severe spray however this hurts like hell.

I am a well experienced longboarder with an extensive background in snowboarding, that I have started in the early 80s.

I have full control over my vehicle and usually make no mistake, especially if it's in street riding on concrete.

Yesterday as I was exiting a long curve at full speed and pushed the gas control. the brake engages and my body went smashing onto the hard concrete.

Those vehicles you make are great and I wish to be proud of that, however since this accident I would not advise anyone to buy one as to me the engineering has not been done correctly and needs to be revised.

I am open to engage into a conversation with adequate authority from the design department as I think I have an idea of what went wrong and also have an idea of how to fix that engineering flaw permanently.

I have all records from the hospital where I was admitted and thinking of taking legal steps.

I trusts you guys to get back to me soon.

This was sent as an email through the website form. I have not received a response since and find that rather unsatisfactory...

Don’t think anyone would respond after mentioning taking legal action

    Agreed! This is scary.

  5. Sounds similar to my accident. I loved my GTR so much. I still think it is an amazing board. But there is something wrong with a component. I wish with all of these reports of this happening Evolve would admit the problem and offer a solution. And due to covid they are not doing phone support. I have no idea what covid has to do with phone support but many companies are just using as an excuse for terrible customer service. I was able to return my board. But I still would have rather had a solution. Because just replacing with the same electronics that failed will most likely result in another fail later. These fails have resulted in a lot of injuries this summer. I think if they do not resolve Evolve will end up killing someone. Renzki did your brakes remain locked or partially locked after crash? Mine did. And board would not connect to controller.

BTW I don’t believe this forum is a place to communicate with the Evolve company - different than a software company having a user forum. I believe this is only a community forum for eSkate enthusiasts to speak with each other, and you’ll need to reach out to Evolve directly - like via email. Please pass on the info so they can connect the dots. I bet they need more info, like how you assess it was the brake not hitting something, didn’t bump the brake button, etc. I imagine.

Sorry about your injury! I hope you’re healing well.

I did bump the brake button. How many of us have accidents by bumping that stupid brake button.

Why is it that near to the acceleration trigger.

    That is my question.

Having no response to my email because I'm threatening of legal action is not cool.

This email should have been treated like a complaint first, they should have delivered first some compassion. We apologize for inconvenience, it's great you didn't break your shoulder bla blah we will look further into this etc..

And then, what is your idea?

I mentioned I was a professional development person but I make enough money with my job, I do y want money for them.

However even if I know how to permanently fix this, I do not wish my idea to be taken without perks, of course I want free gear and to be sent the prototype for beta tests

This improvement would make them the safest skateboard on the market, it's a bit of a shame that they would think I would ask them a pile of money because is would not.

Sweeping such an email under the mat looks rather showing incompetence in communication I say.

I agree the controller design is crazy and is far too easy to bump the wrong button. Currently recovering from injury after clipping the accelerator when trying to squeeze the brake. I can now see why so many people are getting thrown off.
