Customize speed modes

  1. I was wondering if it would be possible to change the speedmode settings. For example here in Belgium it is legal to use an electric transportation device, only if the maximum speed is 18 km/h.
So it would be super if I could change the 'slow' mode to this max. speed limit so I can use my Carbon GT on the street to commute.

That is an awesome idea but not currently possible :( I guess you could still commute but flick the board to slow mode if stopped which should be under 18 km/h.

True but insurance-wise it would be safer if the mode setting was correct. Shall use the slow setting as it is for now. But would be a great feature is we could tweak it a bit.

great idea, I asked Evolve about the possibility of changing acceleration curves, and speed modes too, but they did give a good reason as to why that won't happen.

If you put out the option that lets users to tinker with thinks too much, there are going to be issues, as you have to know what you are doing, and it is harder to know what settings people use and alterations they make to the board to fix them when things go wrong, of if they damage the board, basically opening it up to users opens the company up to a whole range of liability and trouble shooting factors that is not the best of idea. Its like when people want to overclock their computers, or hot up their cars, it leads to a whole range of added issues.

  5. SLOW and ECO mode normally get me to around 16 mph consistently and very rarely over that. As long as you stick to those modes you should be fine.

I'd use eco mode and show them that only when stopped does it accelerate so fast. Once you add weight it wont go over the limit. Other then that :/

I wonder if you could just mess with the gearing to get the max speed in GT mode down to 18km/h, the acceleration would be interesting hehe

In my case ECO, FAST & GT all have the same max speed?

Different modes seem to limit current draw.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure fast and GT up the current draw to increase the max speeds. You can test this by trying them all on various inclines.

Yeah GT mode is the only one that gives you full. That why I use it when boost up hills, then back down and cruise in fast. Cos I find if I leave on GT mode it's too tempting to burn through that battery quickly without realising ha ha

I'm a bit puzzled. As I mentioned from ECO mode to GT the speeds is the same. When I read the FAQ on the evolve site it says that ECO, FAST and GT resp offers 40%, 60% and the full 100% of the power.
In my case the 3 top modes al produces the same max. speeds, but it would be better if I could cruise around in ECO without having the risk of going to max speeds. Is this the case with all the GT boards?

There are no speed limited modes. Different modes seem to limit the current draw, hence the power output. If there's not a lot of resistance, then you'll reach top speed even with a low power output. If you hit a hill or headwind, then you'll slow down.

That's true, hills need fast or GT mode.

With AT on fast or gt I need 9" Tires for the rush. Eco is for town and not stressin the Swed's. GT on grass makes me cream :p

  16. At the Cyclopark event a number of us tested this on perfect smooth roads. The max speed of the Bamboo GT and Carbon GT boards were 22-24 mph. We tested Street and AT. There was a very slight distance in Fast in GT. We actually found that Fast mode was 1-2 mph faster that GT mode. To do with the motor torque we figured.

I have a Bamboo GT from the first batch. I weigh almost 200lbs with gear & my board definitely will not do over 10- in Slow mode. However, in Eco mode it does 20mph on flat ground. I use Fast & GT modes for hills, dirt & grass riding so I don't know the ultimate top speed - the fastest I've been is 24mph & still accelerating in either Fast or GT...

I have notice after riding my carbon gt that my top speed went down. When i got the board on full charge it ran on gt mode at 44km/h in the air no rider. Now the same AT setup is doing 37km/h full charge holding the board in air.

On street wheels its top speed is 31km/h.

    Anyone experiencing this???
