99% looks good but loss of real time battery expressed as a pecentage is disappointing. i realy prefered the imediate visual accuracy of a real number which with a glance could compare performance under load instead of looking a bar trying to figure out the expected cost of an incline or how effective my change of stance is against that headwind.
please consider adding the option to view battery in % next time you do firmware for this controller.

I'm guessing it's to make the battery lag somewhat less noticeable.

Hey Snee, they have not done away with the % view at all, instead they have given us Two options. In the settings preferences you can choose either the Bar option (which is the skateboard icon) or the original digital option (which is the % view) check out Socal Legend's video at 3.10 he runs through some of the options including choosing how the battery level is displayed. I reckon you can make that 100% looks good, as far as I can see this remote will have everything Evolve riders have been asking for and then some!

i heard elswhere that some of the early ones handed out for testing had that but the retail ones did not.

hopefully that is wrong, guess ill see when mine arrives.

Well I reckon it would be a strange move to take just that one option out, as I for one would also like to be able to choose the % view! There does seem to be more choice in the preferences generally, so fingers crossed it is still as shown in the video I referenced. I take it you were lucky enough to grab one from the initial small batch? Let us know when you get it, would love to know your thoughts whilst I wait for them to become available in NZ!

Glad you were one of the lucky ones, I'd have jumped on one too if I'd known about the announcement in time! But anyway, do post back here when you get yours and have tested it out?

Hey fellas. I have followed this up with Evolve and they confirmed the battery for the skateboard on the remote is no longer available. The guys on YT have the older firmware. I have the R2 remote and asked some other fellow evolvers who also have the R2 remotes and confirmed they do not have the option to change it to a percent.

ok so i did hear correctly then.

i must say that is dissapointing and will overshadow the positive points of this controller just enough that i will not be completely satisfied with it.

No doubt @snee scampers. I am hoping i am wrong when everyone get their hands on the new remote. I really do.

guess ill have to select my mode first then open the battery diag screen and ride like that.

since the speed im traveling is the least important pice of information in my opinion because speed is all about what is safe for conditions or courteous to others within your space.

Well I also have to admit that hearing this I'd be more than disappointed too! Especially seeing as the option was available and now seems to have been taken away. Options/choice are always a good thing and help to keep more people happy with how they personally like to set things up. I reckon if this is the case when the new remotes become widely available, we need to petition Evolve to add the % option back in as soon as possible. What do you guys reckon?

Gutted!!! Screenshot & proof it's definitely gone from Jeff's "How to use the R2 remote video"

Just picked up a new Bamboo GTX with R2 remote, quite a few issue with buttons not working, gear change, acceleration etc, very intermittent and glitchy. Thanks to my local retailer they swapped the R2 and all seems stable. However, no battery % is disappointing and for whatever reason, when using in Miles Per Hour rather than KMs, the R2 seems to have a mind of its own. Would be great to be able to download (self service) updates for remotes....what do you say Evolve.

Happy to add my name to petition of adding the % back. I believe it was taken away as it seen as "inaccurate" due to the voltage sag. Make the skateboard image as default but for the more advance users, (who understand the voltage sag) have the option to change it.

    you know it !

when you understand batteries and how they work under load then recover this information is not inaccurate its valuable.

what i recomend in the meantime is just select GT mode since everything from the modes below it can be replicated manually by user inputs and open the battery diagnostic screen.
you can ride safe ecco fast and gt all in GT through user input alone, been in GT doesn't stop you from been safe and courteous in pedestrian heavy areas and neither does it stop you from conserving battery if you need the range.

I have emailed Evolve about this and stated that a number of us have concerns over the % reading being taken away, with us all finding it to be invaluable information. The reply I got back only explained the reasoning behind it being removed, but not why it was originally an option and then taken out of the firmware. Following is a quote from the email from Evolve HQ:

    "Thanks for the email.
No sorry, the option for selecting between the 2 displays is no longer available, and only the bar indicator is used now.
With the size of the display, numbers are sometimes harder to read and can cause a distraction during riding.
The option to go in to the remote and check actual voltage is still there."

When I looked at the two video's that show the USA guys that had the original firmware, I had no issue reading the 100% fully charged image that was displayed in both cases on their remotes, so the reply form Evolve does not stack up in my opinion.
If enough of us voice our concerns over it I'm sure they would re-instate the option and as Ian_Kyon says: Make the skateboard image as default but for the more advance users, (who understand the voltage sag) have the option to change it!

my personal opinion is if you can't glance at the remote to read a number then you do not belong on a board like the GTX lol.
im far from an advanced skater iv got a snowboard which i use once every 2 or 3 years iv got an MBS mountain board which i haven't used in several years cause i split my heel bone into 4 pieces comming off it... the gtx is my 1st longboard for street and my 1st time on double trucks it only took 3 weeks and i was already able to read the remote at 30kph without any issue.

i agree their argument doesn't hold water.
