Some users may be inadvertently shifting into reverse. Reverse may not be needed for many riders, so this would be a good safety feature.

related feature preference: “stop before direction change” (also a safety feature, but perhaps not needed if user doesn’t need reverse)

Great idea, shouldn't be too hard to do with remote software

I agree, we need to stop users accidentally getting into reverse.

Did someone replaced the stock ESC with a VESC?
Then you can do all the fancy stuff from the DIY scene: Reverse on off, Acceleration and Braking Force, Trigger Sensibility, Battery Cutoffs (Hard/Soft Cutoff), Riding Modes (incl. police switch), Watt Control, Connect to Smartphones for telemetry, use a remote you like...

Why does it even NEED reverse? Seems pointless and dangerous!
I'd very much like to get rid of it.

    there are 3 options:
    - Evolve do implement this feature in his firmware => I doubt they'll do that
    - Evolve provide access to his ESC, so you can change any settings yourself (at own risk) => best solution
    - You replace the ESC => only for experinced users

Exactly, if there was a way we could plug the remote in and change the button settings and sensitivity curve of the throttle that would be great.
Had me thinking if all the guys that have gone into reverse while riding might be left handed?
