Missing bearing spacer

Ok so while I'm waiting for my replacement motor to arrive (one went faulty in less than a month) I thought I would buy some lithium grease and grease the bearings as instructed in the evolved YouTube guide.

Pretty easy job really, this tube of grease will last forever..

Anyway I had done both AT front wheels, and the back wheel which currently has the motor off and I started on the last rear wheel.

This wheel was missing the spacer that goes between the two bearings. I thought I was going crazy and had lost it, but after reviewing the photos I was taking of each step it was definately missing... Hrmmmmmmm

So, I rang the skate shop who suggested that I contact evolved. Apparently bearing spacers come in some combination of 8mm, 9mm or 10mm length and diameter.

Hmm if I can find a battery for the Vermeer calipers I can find out I guess.

    So,

    A) is it bad that 3 of my AT wheels have spacers and 1 doesn't?

    B) anyone know the actual size of the spacer?

    C) can I just get that from a skate shop instead of waiting 2 weeks for evolved to send me one from QLD?

Any other thoughts? Sorry if I sound frustrated but it's daunting enough getting back into Longboarding after 25years let alone now having to double check to make sure that everything came with the board...

    Thanks,

Its fine to run it without that spacer, just pop it in once you get it. You should be able to get it from any skate shop, typical standard longboard wheel spacer. Many traditional skateboards don't run spacers in their wheels and I've had electric skateboards that also didn't have spacers.

Remember that the internal wheel spacers only keep the bearings spaced correctly as they're pressed towards the direction of the wheel. It basically cleans up the out of tolerance slop from the wheel manufacturer if they have any errors. They offer no load bearing qualities. So with that, when you tighten down the wheel without the spacer, just make sure the wheel doesn't bind and spins free. If it binds just back the nut a bit and make sure the wheel does not wiggle side to side too much. I usually leave a little bit of play / side to side space to ensure I don't bind the wheels even with the spacer. The truck nuts have a nylon lock washer to help prevent it from backing out while riding / vibrating.

I've replaced my spacers and speed rings with higher quality stainless steel / aluminum ones. They're way harder and have better tolerances / less error than the traditional ones. Note that the typical skateboard spacer is not always exact in dimensions.
