Evolve Suggestion Audible bell when battery is close to 20%

Many riders including myself find that the board can unexpectedly reduce power/torque and speed when in FAST or GT mode while dropping down into ECO mode when the battery hits 20% SOC / capacity. This can be quite unpredictable as well as dodgy when your ride up a steep hill not knowing when the board will drop into ECO. A user feedback system would greatly help the rider in recognizing they're about to have the board downshift, and when heard, the rider themselves can drop down into ECO so there will be no surprises. An audible digital bell on the skateboard or on the remote that beeps twice or three times would be one implementation. And having it beep around 23% or so would be ideal. You could monitor if the board is going up hill and alert the user earlier vs if there's less amps. This would help compensate the huge voltage drops and give the user of some known point for both cases when the event is about to occur.

Definitely, this kind of ties in with this suggestion for haptic feedback. Would be great to have both. Although I'd probably prefer haptic feedback because of windnoise and because I ride with headphones in most of the time.

The MetroBoard uses an audible bell, it is located on the battery pack housing under the board. It gives off a series of beeps in a high computer tone that goes beep-beep-beep. I had no issues of noise or wind drowning it out. Haptic / vibration feedback costs more money to implement and if you have a glove, hard to feel. Also if you're on pavement that is rough, you may not feel it. I worked with engineers experimenting with implementing haptic feedback on the Kindle. We ditched it since it really didn't work that well. Best place location and host for the communicatrion is at the board itself which should be the master in any communication between the rider/remote and board and is the soul mechanism you're trying to control.

Also if the board finds itself disconnected from the remote, the board can beep or notify the user that a disconnection has occurred which is another good alert / user feedback.

Most haptic feedback are little motors... There is two big ones at the back of the board, surely they could be used?

Better yet, Evolve should recongnise that nobody wants this feature!

Smooth rotating motors are NOT haptic output devices, haptic rotate in an egg shaped motion or have a counterweight to create vibration.

Really!? I guess you didn't get hurt from this board. You're lucky. Its a welcomed feature from those who DID get hurt from disconnects and from the board and it not communicating to the rider what the hell is going on which leads up to a dangerous situation. If this damn board had a warning I would NOT have dislocated my shoulder nor would I have been accelerating and deceleration out of control on the street with no notion I have no control of my board whatsoever. Many of my issues are surrounded with disconnects. Also my board may not have jumped into reverse by itself if I had known it was disconnected and queuing up my inputs. Lastly it also insurance to keep Evolve from getting sued from their on-going issues with the remote/board showing they're putting safety measure in place to protect the rider.

If Evolve created a defect free board where the rider is safe I'd agree with you 100%. But they didn't.

This topic is about vibrating near the 20% auto shift threshold and that is the feature that I am saying nobody wants and should be removed.

I agree your issue is serious, I am disturbed by Evolves clear lack of thought in designing the protocol. Still it seems distinct from the issue you are raising

I think there were crossed wires there, at first I also read that as forbesmyester saying nobody wants an alert/feedback as opposed to the actual downshifting mechanism itself.

Sorry if I was less than clear.

Think it is better if the board does not do weird stuff in the first place but am not against warning the user. That is as long as warning the user is not seen as fixing the problem... I never needed warning my Gen2 was low on battery and I emptied that thing every day.
