    More, similar or less rebound than the stock black Evolve SuperCarve bushings?

    A bit weird to describe. The material is 100% unlike any typical bushing material. First impression stepping on the board was - whoa, these are cushiony and WHOA they feel loose even though I installed the ones for my weight first (heavier rated set red/gray).

    But, under load they rebound you faster for sure than the evolve ones. In speaking to the designer at riptide, I learned that they are made to allow mad amounts of travel so they feel loose at low speed, but then when put under fast pressure - they rebound more quickly. Also, with typical bushings - the tighter you make them the less loose they get. Not with riptides. Riptides are designed to be snugged down just right, and the amount of looseness/rebound controlled by the DURO you choose.

    I cruise/carve in pro mode with trigger fully squeezed the whole time - so 18-21mph. I felt like I needed to be more careful on these because of the speed and nature of the rebound, also I'm OLD - 47, so I can see a younger dude liking the speed of rebound. They are different animals for sure and do act different than any other bushing I've tried. If you have more questions, contact riptide, they are mad cool.

    Thanks for the info. OLD-47. That makes me very OLD.

    Still trying to tweak the bushings. Started with 2 threads showing on all the bushings. Lighter body weight at 59kg and like loose, but the straight line speed wobble especially on loose, lumpy gravel surfaces is a bit unsettling. 4/3 on the rear and 3/3 threads showing on the front, reduce rear foot pressure or just keep carving. Still a bit of an issue running straight and fast.

    For running straight/fast I found that keeping you weight over the forward helps. Also, having looser front truck, tighter rear adds stability with the speed wobbles. In the case of the riptides I'd say put softer up front, harder duro rear. Honestly, the Evolve felt like I could kill myself on it at first and now it feels like it lacks power. Eyeballing a Kaly to cure the power issue, though I don't think I need to go past 25mph really.

    I have a mixed set of evolve stock/performance bushings on my board now, weird setup, but it ended up being my favorite. Deckside barrel - orange, cone - stock black. Streetside barrel - blue, cone - stock black. That got the board nice and stable for me. The cones that came with the evolve blue/orange were smaller than stock, so I did not use them. Evolve sucked at addressing that issue.

    Loved the initial feel of the riptides, but too much rebound for me. I enjoy being able to lean into the carves for a while, then come out of them when I'm ready. The riptides returned my energy a bit too quickly for me. If I don't sell them, may experiment again in the future.

    1st real pavement session today. Nice 3km climb and then the fun descent back to the lot parked at. So cool to lay down carves going uphill. Froze my fingers. Only in the 40'sF. Ended the session doing loops, corkscrews and 8s around the lot for an hour or so. Wimped out due to finger freeze. Didn't have any wobble issue with running straight downhill when needing to hug the edge due to passing vehicles. Starting to think the speed wobble on gravel is more due to the bumpy, inconsistent surface. Or maybe I'm regaining form.

    Have you viewed the averageeskater YTube video of Chris crashing at ~25mph. Apparently at ~25mph wheel bite kicks in if aggressive carving. I really like the feeling of carving. Whether on a snowboard, windsurf board or longboard. No real desire to do +30mph going straight. Raced road and mtn bikes for 20 season. Multiple +20mph crashes. Tuck and roll and buy a new helmet. Today both shoulders are reminding me of the hits they took.

    I've been lucky, just one 15 mph crash on gravel for the past year. Rolled like a fat Kung Fu artist. Almost ate it big time on pavement by looking backwards and hitting a tree branch in the road at 20mph. Sometimes I'm too relaxed. More time on the board = more comfort. I have around 700mi on mine now.

    I'm 215 lbs, so my Evolve has only seen up to 21-23mph max. I did have to move the trucks to the outer holes because at the inner location, my toes/heels kept hitting the 7" tires. Anyway, have fun in the cold. I refuse to ride unless it is 50+ degrees F. If my fingers freeze, NO way. May move south (USA) soon and then I'll have every single day to ride.

    As for shoulders, I did buy Leatt upper body soft armor, but I've literally only worn it once...too HOT in the summer: https://amzn.to/3sjEffF. I hate safety gear in general...but do wear knees/elbows/gloves/helmet. I also go out after a couple of drinks on occasion to help balance out the use of pads. The pavement needs a fighting chance to get me ;)

    I'm all geeked up. Helmet, sunglasses, gloves, knee pads, elbow pads and now padded liner shorts. Backpack absorbed all the impact of my two hard tuck and roll crashes. Did put a bunch of rock pock marks in the helmet. A repurposed cycling helmet. Picked up a ASTM F1492(skate certified) MIPS helmet from nutcase. Inexpensive on sale at $51. Using iSX pads similar to the ones Evolve sells. Designed for mtn biking. I think they work. Haven't felt any impact on the joints. D30 pads would be another option for less restrictive, lower profile, more breathable pads.

    Adding a helmet mirror for street use. Skating rural highways. Spending too many moments looking over my shoulder. Wind and tire (knobby) rumble. Hard to hear passing traffic. Now I'll be ultra geeked out.
