Old guy here. Retired old. Last longboard session was ~3 decades ago. Thinking cruising on a longboard on the days when the wind is too weak or it's too cold to go windsurfing or wind foiling. Was searching for an AT longboard for use on packed gravel roads, Nordic ski & bike trails, "green" level single-track, and maybe the hard snow packed township road in the winter. Discovered e skateboards. So clueless didn't realize they existed. ~2km mostly downhill stretch from the house to the highway at Lake (Superior) level dropping +100 meter would be a blast heading downhill. Wasn't looking to forward to push kicking or walking the steeper pitches back up hill. Solution e longboard! Head ~5km inland on rolling terrain before hitting a fireroad that may be too much for a GTR with 7"ATs. ~100km of X/C ski and bike trails accessible from the same road. Evolve Bamboo GTR looks to fit the need. Like the flex v. Carbon stiff. Like the board contour. Only real concern is the remote.
Took delivery of the Bamboo GTR AT with the knobby tire option. Couple sessions. Couple dumps. Have the bushings set at lowest possible compressions. Prefer to be able to link tighter radius carves. Especially on the steeper pitches. ECO mode doesn't have the power to get me (59kg) up most the pitches. The drop down to Lake level is sort of step wise. Dumps were due to loss of control during slides. Bite even with the knobbies is poor in the loose stone sections. Need to learn to skate. Took a few runs on pavement. Tires really stick. Really lay down some deep carves. Need to play around with the bushing tensions. At ~12mph start experiencing "speed" wobble if I run straight. Might be me. Wobbly old legs. Few season snowboarding. Riding an Arbor Element. Just into "dynamic" carving and powder runs through light trees. The weird thing about esk8 in carving while going uphill. Nice to carve both with gravity and against.
Wont take you long to get the legs for it. I think i was on for about 5 minutes before i set it into top speed .I am running the GTX from 3 years ago but will be getting the street version GTR Bamboo shortly .I still have my Vintage skateboards from when i was a kid and i now have about 7 longboards not including my Evolve .
