Bamboo GT Graphic wear

    Hi,

thank you for the invite to the forum, it has been a great resource prior to pulling the trigger

I recently purchased a Bamboo GT and have been on it for an hour, this below is what my adidas Stan Smiths have done to the deck graphic and grip already.

I have emailed the guys at Evolve to ask if this would be normal, they did not believe so, but appears the soles must be abrasive enough to remove the grip and graphic. It is not covered under the warranty, which is fair and kind of what I expected although only after an hour it does seem a bit bizarre.

I thought it may help someone else out if your planning on using these type of trainers and did not want your deck to look the same as mine.

Ah sorry to hear fella. Wow good point def worth bringing to attention for others! I've not had it happen to mine but did notice you have to be gentle with the grip, can't use too stiff brush or gumgrip. but I started to have dedicated skate shoes since carbon that I only wear on the board. I think it's some kind of OCD :joy:

Cheers Andy, maybe it's time for another investment ;), any decent suggestions that won't screw with the deck?

I really like Etnies brand, specifically the sk8 shoes they do not trainers. have few pairs for everyday use comfy, well made, good grip. I've a pair of Supra sk8 boots which I save for best :ok_hand:

Hey usfdrohead, my board is also brand new.

I took it out Friday for the very first time and spent an hour on it.

Yea it's odd. Only reason I'm worried is because the areas it's coming up it's also bringing up all the grip tape. So essentially I'm left with a smooth patch.

Honestly I'm gonna regrip this thing anyway so not too worried.

I'll have to do some research and do the same.

Odd. I've been on mine for a few hours now and see no trace of wear. I've been wearing hiking shoes and walking shoes with the board.

I have the same thing happening to my Bamboo GT. Got it 3 days ago, and have only taken it out 3 times.

I noticed the black paint (along with the grip that's over it) flecking off after the first day.

The board is seriously awesome, but paint and grip coming off after hardly using it doesn't seem normal. I'll probably try to shoot evolve and email with a picture. Seems like for a $1600 board, that probably shouldn't happen on day 1.

I'm really liking DC Khalis Lite skate shoes for my BGT. Good cushy sole & they're easy on my board. It has like 500+ miles on it and the deck looks good still

Seriously. The top deck crack and then the graphic wear. You've just been really unlucky with your board.

This happened to me as well, but I'll be re-gripping it soon. Anyone know if stock is a spray-on or clear grip tape?

I have this problem too. I'm afraid to clean it as that makes it worse! Sheeeiit

It's gonna wear and tear dadawg, especially in damper, muddier climates like Ireland and the UK.

Best to just clean it, use it and abuse it then re-grip it with some fresh tape, or a nice custom design and repeat as necessary :punch:

The bamboo looks pretty sweet with fresh black grip tape on it too.
