So I am very new to ESK8ing, a friend had a basically NiB Gen2 Bamboo Street (Single motor non-GT) that has been sitting around for a little over a year that I was able to pickup for $550, so I pulled the trigger and I am instantly hooked, however I do have a small problem...

I weigh around 240lbs, so I am guessing this is weight related, but the moment my battery gets below 80-90% full, I start getting a red light on the remote and a lot of motor cutting out under throttle, it seems like I am over loading the motor or the battery and it is having to cut out from heat or draw. I still appear to be getting over 10mi per ride, and have hit a top speed of about 21mph, so the battery does not appear to be "shot", but maybe just under powered? It is frustrating to be constantly feathering and screwing with the throttle to maintain speed. How would you guys reccomend upgrading for this issue?

My gut says rebuilding the pack with VT6 batteries, and going over to the taller AT wheels will likely help as most of the issues are in the middle to top of the power band, not at take off. I know a dual motor GT setup would be better, but the wife will KILL ME if I buy another board right now lol, so I would like to make this happen via upgrades if possible.

Please let me know your thoughts or advice!

    PS
I do own a production machine shop, so even if the upgrade seems extreme, please let me know your ideas!

aallsbury - yes with your weight will stress the one motor and the motor mount plate but it sounds like you already know this. The evolve stock battery pack is decent (and safe) to start with but the range will decrease and sag increase pretty significantly after a couple hundred battery cycles. You can build a new pack using 18650 batteries to get better range and less sag but you need to either purchase (not sure they sale the BMS by itself) or use the BMS from the current pack. The AT setup is a very smooth ride but will add more weight to the board and will decrease your range. You will need to purchase the AT belts and flywheels so the kit is needed. The single motor is probably your weak link here. Having said that I would ride the heck out of that thing until your wife is good with you upgrading to the GT models. BTW if you want to upgrade the battery pack there are a number of good posts on the forum to use as guides. Enjoy!
