I have a clicking sound on my GT AT wheels - how to solve

Common issue with most GT's equipped with AT wheels is a clicking sound that develops. It can come from any wheel.

This is caused by the bearing rubbing in the hub.

Here is how to fix :punch::punch::thumbsup::beers:

I used this tip when installing the bearings in my AT wheels for the first time & they're nice & silent :)

Its just called lithium grease, most mechanics have it and can be founds in car parts shops, places that sell oil etc ;)

Thank you for this tip. I also have this annoying clicking sound on one wheel. I'm thinking is this grease solution just a quick temporary fix - it is not removing the real mechanical problem, that is causing the problem.

I've only done it once on 2 boards and both are still silent ninjas! Pivot cup if your board creaks helps too :p:thumbsup:

What's the best way to get the bearings out?

Just wiggle it on the axel and pry it off, flick the wheel round repeat

Anyone know how to solve this clicking sound ? happens with the wheels off so it's not the bearings...

That knocking sound is kinda normal. Just the motor magnets at a certain speed. A lot of brushless motors have the same issue.

Update - after several hundred miles on the ATs they are still nice & silent

To be honest this does not seem like a good fix. I understand that it works but I don't thinking adding lube to silence knocking as a result of play is a good solution.
Assuming the noise is coming from the outside of the bearing where it fits up against the rim what I think would be a better solution would be to add a shim to decrease the play. All you would need would be a small amount of paper (or some other thin material) between the bearing and rim. This would hopefully stop the outside of the bearing from moving and therefore stop the clicking sound.

This is one of those "fix the root cause not the symptom" type situations.

No but the board runs fine. I think it is the bearing in the motor but haven't taken it apart yet.

Mine is the same, will have a look at it on Sunday. When I'm riding, it sounds like there's an engine on the board, turns a lot of heads!

would any HTB (High Temp Bearing) grease do the same thing? Ive got a pile of that for car bearings so would save me a trip.

Thanks for the vid, well done!
