    Hello,

This morning i was going to work on my carbon gt v2gen, the board had 40% battery left, i engaged gt mode , and was riding at about 20km/h going a very long and subtil uphill (like 5 degres), the battery percentage off course is under load and showed 0% on the remote and all of the sudden the board cutt of the power, the thing is, instead of cutting power and glide it cutted the power and applyed full brakes!! Is this normal??

Hi Miguel374, i don't know if this i normal, but this has happened to me to, in October! Did a nice flip on the ground and manage to stop before entering a bigger road with lots of cars..

It's not the best future i would say..

Meanwhile evolve responded to this situation:

"If board is low battery or under load it will shut down. Complete loss of power in GT mode will feel like full breaking.

Take care when low on battery especially if going uphill. You might want to consider engaging fast or eco mode when the battery is low so the shutdown does not feel as severe."

I guess its possible, since i was on gt mode going uphill that the sudden loss of power felt like full braking...

You but at the same time you only have full throttle in GT. I would be nice to go uphill with ECO but slower. If you know what i mean. To me it sounds like a design fail...

I understand what you are saying, but the thing is, eco mode is not strong enough for uphill, only fast and gt, i dont think it is a design fail.. because even on gt mode if you give it little throttle on low battery it wont climb anyway.. the more the battery is discharged the hill climbing ability gets reduced more and more..

Does anyone know if it is possible for the board to shut down on low battery braking during a long downhill? Because since it has regenerative braking, it should not ever shutdown right?? I think it is more worrying the board shutdown during braking on downhill than accelerating going uphill..

I see, but isn't better if its slowing down instead of just BOOM STOP? that's what i meant with design fail. Rather slowdown and being weaker then stops..

Oh off course i totally agree with you on that, when the board reaches that "cut off point" it should reduce power slowly until it completely cuts out. So you can have time to do a safe and smooth stop.

Well going downhill under brakes charges the battery.

But... If you loose the connection to the remote the board will freeroll, no matter what hill you are on.

I wrote a nice letter to Evolve about this and explained that it is a dangerous and that the Gen2's (which I based the GT purchased on) did not do this.

No reply. Tis annoying as the EvolveUK guys are great and super supportive, but they cannot obviously do anything to fix the poor software.
