I always forget. I get all more gear on, put on my headphones and Spotify and forget about ride tracking :see_no_evil: I really need to get on it and try out some of the apps.

The Evolve app hasn't been updated in about 20 months by the looks of it :(

So I found a racetrack in my neighborhood. Each lap is .3 mile figure 8 with hairpin turns , smooth pavement and a ditch to run through..... so much fun! This was my lunch break yesterday!

they need real bluetooth and an app that talks to the board - even Acton's Blink S will do this when it ships

It honestly surprises me that they haven't done that yet. The remote is connected over Bluetooth so there is no reason for them to not have a phone app.

no actually the remote is not talking Bluetooth to the board - they are using two NRF24L01 transceivers - similar frequencies but completely different protocol.

That could possibly be the reason as to why they don't have an app then. If the board receiver doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities, then it is unlikely they will release an app until maybe the 4th gen.

    you got it !

next gen - I tried the current app once but stopped using it when I realized it doesn't communicate with the board - can't even remember what is does do in all honesty - lol (not sure if anyone uses it)

(so there is an app for IOS at least but I think it's more social oriented and may include ride tracking by using the gps in your phone and built in maps etc)

Haha no way. Literally any basic bike app could do a better job than what Evolve's can sadly

Lol yea here's some pics. The app says the battery gauge is an estimate only when you go to the tracking page

For comparison below is a pic of the ACTON app (which again does talk to the board)

The Acton app is still a bit cartoonish but its worlds better than the Evolve app. I personally think the Boosted Board app is the best one so far.

What features does the Boosted Board app have?

I get the impression that it tracks the distance covered by the board, which is pretty cool. As when I see for sale threads they often list the mileage of the board, which is pretty neat.

Yeah boosted has a full odometer that tracks total miles the boards been ridden, whether you have it connected to the app or not. I feel like something like that should be standard for all boards. I've been using strava for every ride since i've got my board and I really like it, i've forgot a couple times but for the most part I have all my miles tracked.

Nice, yeah that seems like a top idea. Definitely a suggestion for the next evolve board there to track the distance travelled on the board itself, I'm rubbish at remembering to activate any apps before I ride :see_no_evil:

It tracks mileage, can tell you battery percentage/ miles left, let's you switch modes and control the board without the remote and it also can get firmware upgrades or an updates from boosted and can you can update the board without sending it back.

What kind of controlling of the board with the app would be useful as opposed to using the remote?

Firmware updates seems like another top idea though. So you download the latest version of the app and it wirelessly communicates and updates the board itself?

I assume being able to control the board is just a bonus in case your remote dies or you forget it or something.

As for the updates, you are correct but I assume the updates must take forever if they are large as bluetooth isn't a particularly great medium for transferring large amounts of data.
