I noticed something very cool with the remote and I'm wondering if others also have this. I have the carbon gt with the new remote.

To change up speed modes (eg eco to fast) you have to put the trigger into neutral before the new speed mode will kick in. Sometimes this sucks because you lose momentum for example from eco to fast when trying to conserve battery life.

BUT (at least with my remote) that's not the case between fast and GT.

So you can have the trigger fully squeezed for maximum speed in fast then change to GT without having to release the trigger and bam! GT mode kicks in. Actually very cool particularly if going up a hill as you don't lose momentum at all. It's like a clutch-less shift on a dirt bike.

For me it means I can stick to fast mode mainly and use GT when i need it or want an extra boost - instantly.

If you have not tried this before please do and let us know.

I just got a new CGT with the new remote too. I like the Fast to GT upshift, but I don't like that it defaults to Eco everytime the remote is powered off & on..

Yep, trigger to neutral before gear shifts is the norm now.

Zac yeah i know what ya mean, the dropping to eco mode when battery is under stain is pretty cool feature tho rather that shutting down.

Yea, I just wish it stayed in Fast when powering the remote back up.. The up/downshift buttons are nice since I mainly use Fast & GT on the Carbon

It would be great if future versions offer custom options on the remote for the varying features.
Does the new remote not remember the last mode you turned it off in?

new remote always defaults to ECO - may be safer this way anyway - would be nice if they enabled a throttle lock (off) with a button combination and it started up in OFF mode until you enable it for carrying

I want the board to be in whatever mode it was in when I turn the remote off for even a few seconds

That is the point I'm trying to make - that on mine it doesn't require neutral between Fast and GT modes. Maybe I'll make a short vid.

Isn't the only difference between Fast mode and GT mode is that the take off is softened? From my understanding top speed and torque at the upper end is unchanged. So what may be only happening is that you switched to GT mode but you're really in fast and the next time the trigger is in neutral, it then changes the acceleration to GT mode.

Nope... GT is definitely more torque across the range including upper end - just hit any decent uphill in fast at top speed then when the board starts to slow down change to GT WITHOUT going to neutral and (if your remote is like mine) you'll see what I mean. The pitch of the motor whine changes immediately and the board surges forward. I'll try to make a vid to clearly prove what I am saying - try it yourself.

Allrightythen I'm not alone thanks Zac! I've been riding lots in the dirt lately and I make use of this feature very often now - means you can tackle hills in Fast mode and crank it up to GT if required. I prefer that to pure GT because in the dirt GT spins the wheels too much and is too jolty.

hi ! i have also found out that with the new remote (version) the speed curve in fast mode is a bit lowered brcause i also have tested an other board with the old remote and the fast mode is faster on that board than the newer one...
also the older remote cannot paired with the newer board !

That's interesting and I've read that elsewhere in these forums. I actually wouldn't mind if fast was a little bit faster it seems like a big jump between fast and GT

Oh, that's interesting, so it doesn't accelerate as quickly from rest in fast mode?

Do the remotes have OS version numbering at all so it's easier to see what firmware any given remote is running?

Ok, I started messing with switching between Fast to GT mode while at full throttle. Had my board cutout / shutdown a couple of times doing a hard switch around 8mph or so from Fast to GT. I'm starting to think it may be possibly a voltage drop cutout when all the torque it put into the motors at once. However the SOC charge of the board was around 94%, so pretty good. Didn't seem like a remote cutout since I haven't had much of those since my board came back repaired (sorta).

Curious if anyone else can make their board cutout like that or if its just mine. I'd think if you did the same thing going up a hill that would be the worse case scenario. Its a bit scary when GT mode is in full swing then the motors cut-out. I'll do more testing to see if I can 100% be certain its not the remote dropping.

i had the remote dropping issue with the bamboo gt, rode the board once had the motors cut 2 times, first time i caught myself, next time i went face first called evolve tech was super nice but didn't seem to have an answer for the fix so I sent the board back, can't trust to ride the board 4+ miles a day with this kinda bug in the system.

First of all, are you ok from the fall? I hope so. Secondly Thanks for reporting, everyone's experience adds up. Feels like I've been fighting people who have working boards and writing this off as not a big issue. Easy to say if your board isn't defective. Anything that a rider depends their full safety and control needs to be defect / problem free. If its not, that's a big FAIL for that someone really could die if they skimp on wearing a helmet, even so, this stuff with malfunctioning control of the boards could easily throw someone into traffic.

I hope if comes back fixed, but beware and be cautious. Don't let your guard down ever with this board, right when you think they fixed it you'll hit the right conditions and the board becomes buggy again.

that's nuts.. you're lucky you didn't get thrown off the board doing something like that!

my board will shift seamlessly from FAST to GT while level or throttling up a hill. It works consistently for me at lower speeds/torque, but a little rougher shift at higher speed/incline.

I've decided that there isn't much benefit to shifting while throttling (or shifting much at all)
I just ride GT in the hills and FAST on the streets (pausing in neutral when GT is needed)

works for me. reliably, but really no need to mess with it.
