    Hey guys,

So close to pulling the trigger on a bamboo GTX here in the UK but a couple of things concern me.

Seems to be quite a few failures with the motor plates amongst others.
I realise there will always be parts that wear but i don’t want to be working in the board more than riding it for £1500!

Also, it’s been out a year and the possibility of a new board soon from Evolve?
I would hate to spend that amount of cash for one to come out next month

So close to buying but these things are making me think it might be worth waiting until next summer now

    Paul.

  2. Had the same concerns. Evolve ensured me that there is no new production board in the works. That being said, any parts on any board going forward will be interchangeable with your and my GTX.

Aslo, I'm almost 1,000 miles (1,609 km) in on my GTX and yes I have cracked 2 motor plates. But both where my own damn fault. Both times I had my belt tension to tight and the torque bent the plates. After my second stupid break, I'm about 600 miles (965 km) in on my third plate with proper slack in the belt with no issues!

Hmm, i seen a clip on YouTube from Jay Boston and the last few seconds he let slip something is in the pipeline with Evolve which is really making me want to hold off and wait

  4. Keep in mind there is always another board. Just like there is always another computer, camera, TV, drone etc... Last time there was a slip it was just the release of the R2 and the ONE.

I held off as well... Totally up to you. I know that whole Gold board was being tested but honestly it's a simple swap of a battery pack and or motors to turn any GT series into what ever they release in the upcoming season.

That all depends on the rider. How often you're going to be using the board and/or your willingness to wait.

I believe the term 4WD was mentioned, but to be honest that’s not something i’m interested in.
The reliability of the GTX is my main concern.

    Close to breaking...

Would be a bit gutted if a better battery pack came out that wasn’t compatible etc.

  6. I'm out if it comes to All Wheel drive... no need for that for my reasons. I guess if your off road that may help. I don't do a lot of that where 4x4 would be nessisary.

As for reliability I can tell you that with 979 miles on my board I have only had one blown motor bearing that evolve overnight shipped to me, 2 broken motor plates that where my own fault, on my second set of 97mm wheels and one completely crushed R2 from a nasty crash that evolve replaced for $50. Keep in mind that's over 1,000 miles (1,609 km) at 24 miles per night 5 days a week and errands on the weekends. All that since May.

I have beat the hell out of my board, neglected the bearings as I haven't had enough time to keep them clean regularly.

I simply check to make sure my bolts are tight about once a week and hit the trails.

To be honest, the thing is so reliable we sold our other car and I have been commuting on my GTX.

  7. To bad you're not close by. I'd just lend my GTX to you for a week or 2 so you thrash the thing as well for a bit on my dime!

    Thanks for the input.

Would i be correct in thinking a lot of issues come from board maintenance or just pot luck?

Hoping to hear from a few others but it seems quite a few have vanished off this board

  9. My issues come from being negelctfull and stupid. Take out all my stupidity and my only issue has been a blown motor bearing that again evolve overnighted me under warranty.

I ride hard, I'm 20 lbs over the boards Max limit and I ride on crap I shouldn't. My stock street wheels started to chip quickly as I basically ride on a cheese greater on my way home for about a 5 mile section. My abec superfly 97mm's are amazing and we'll worth the money.

Again, wheels are a wear component and again I'm on the worst section of asphalt that I could easily avoid but I don't.

No bearing issues so far even though I have only cleaned them once about 650 miles in. Even as I wright this I know my bearings are as dry as the Sahara and need to be cleaned. I just don't have the time to do so at this moment. Possibly next weekend if I find time.

Also, even if the battery isn't upgradable from Evolve there are other monster batteries that can be swapped. I know if mine dies I'll be doing an aftermarket upgrade. I'd love to try a 24 miles ride home on my AT wheels! Sounds amazing to me!

I’ll hopefully be looking at a street set up with 97 or 107 wheels depending on the state of Bristol’s pavements!

Hopefully won’t have to go to AT set up as not something i fancy.

  11. I like the AT'setup but I love my 97's!

  12. Abec 11 97mm superfly's are the best so far. I can't run the 107's as I may not make it home with that ratio and the stock battery.
