    Hey guys,

So yesterday I went for a ride, I started with 100% battery, rode 8km stopped at a friends for 2 hours then rode 8km home again, I made it home with 1% battery. The road was very smooth and near perfectly flat with no incline over a couple degrees , I was in eco mode the whole time and I ride at 85kg (the same as the weight the evolves spec sheet is based off) I have also noticed quite a considerable decrease in torque when I moved to the ABEC 97mm 75a, much more than what other people seem to be experiencing, I have had some motor issues but since then have put two brand new motors on the board with no improvements. (my board is also just over 2 months old)

    So my questions are really;
Is anyone else getting such a disappointing range with similar variable?
Is is likely that there is something wrong with my battery, thus not producing the power it should?
Is there anything I can try adjusting to make it better?
any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Another thing is that I have emailed my evolve distributer and explained my problems and disappointment, however i have had an absolutely terrible record for getting a reply from them, so I wanted to use the time to gather some opinions and info, Mostly about whether it is likely that they would replace my whole board as within the two months I've had wheel, motor and now seemingly battery issues.

Cheers for any and all responses and information! this forum is a lifesaver on so many occasions!

The range is based on the basic speed at 20km/h same as when you buy a car they say What it goes pr/L when you drive normal, i personally get around 22-23km when cruising in eco mode.

Thanks for a response, yeah I get that but I was matching all of these things, I was on flat ground, Im the same rider weight, I was in eco, doing 20-22 the whole time, should I really still expect 16 out of 35km to be acceptable??

Evolve NZ have emailed back and have said they are talking to Evolve Au about the range problem, so I presume they don't think this is normal if they thought that this was a execution tolerance

Really don't mean to sound like I'm disagreeing with you and I appreciate the response!

For the record too I went out today with similar conditions and got about 12-14km

have you tried with the Stock 83 wheels the 97 is hard for the board if you dont push start the board Then it drain the battery faster.

I'll put the stock wheels on tomorrow and do another run and see and report back. As for starting off, this was at night so I really only had to start off maybe 2-3 times for the whole ride

I took a Cruise to work the otherday on my 97 there is about 12km and my battery was almost low so it all depends on riding condition even though it seems to be a straight Road, weater, wind ect. You cannot count on the battery while standing still because there is No force on the motors.

Well I hope the stock wheels makes the range a bit better, although it kinda defeats the purpose of getting the 97's

First thing I noticed that affected my range was over tightening my belts.
Secondly you can check your cell voltages in your settings, more info, double tap right button then hold left.

If there is a cell that's damaged it'll bring down the whole integrity of the battery.

I had voltage drop issues and evolve got back to me very fast and are going to replace the battery.

Yeah I have noticed that with the belts too, I've been changing them every couple days to make sure they're at the right tension.

I'll have a look in the setting menu in the morning! I didn't think to check that!

By voltage drop issues do you mean that it had substantially more voltage sag than is expected? In fast mode with 80+ % it can sometimes drop all the way down to 10-20%

After reading about belt tensions, the more tension on the belt the less efficient it is as it causes more intenral friction, greater wear and strain on the motors.
The best belt tensions is abit more than the belt skipping under your largest load/braking / accelerating

By voltage drop I ment when going up a hill on GT I could go from 95% all the way down to 9%.

I don't actually use GT myself but if similar stats are happening to me in fast mode, id say I'm having the same problem, how old was your board when this happened? mine is little over 2 months old

Mine is a little over 1 month.

and the issues started from day one or developed?

I get 25km out of my bamboo GT with 97mms in eco, push start and 20km/h, in fast mode cruising 30-35km/h i get 10-15km. I got my battery replaced but didnt matter. I weight 100kg with gear on me. Dissapointed too but thats how it is.

Thats still about 10km more than me and I'm a lighter rider probably about 90kg with gear
Thanks for your input though! great to see what different people are getting with their different variables!

I don't know what kind of weather you have but cold temperatures will significantly reduce the battery capacity.

Are we talking 10 degrees (50 degrees fahrenheit) and less or more than that? because one ride was at night so that could come into play but the next day it was about 15 degrees and i still had the same problem

I would say everything colder than 15 degrees Celsius. Less than 10 degrees I have significant effect on battery performance.

Ill do a bit of research on that tomorrow, thanks for that info
